Dr.Joe Miskin 3 Harwood Ave.South, Ajax on L1S 2C1 905-686-4343 drjoemiskin.com REMOVABLE ORTHODONTIC RETAINERS 1: You must wear your retainer 24 hours a day except when eating, cleaning, swimming and contact sports unless otherwise instructed. 2: When cleaning, remove your retainer first; then brush your teeth and then brush your retainer. Do not brush the clear front wire, if so equipped, with a tooth brush, instead it should be gently wiped down. The clear front wire is very fragile and care should be taken at all times. 3: When you are not wearing your retainer keep it in your case. Do not wrap it up in napkins or Kleenex or it could get accidently thrown out. 4: Insert your retainer carefully with your fingers only. Do not bite it in or it could break. When you remove your retainer do not pull from the front wire but dislodge the clasps at the very back and then wiggle it out with your fingers on the clasps. 5: Write your name and phone number on your container in case it gets lost. 6: Keep your retaineraway from pets as it could turn into a costly play toy. 7: If your retainer hurts or breaks, please call the office as soon as possible. 8: You must wear your retainer all the time for the first 4 months. After this time only wear it at night times unless otherwise instructed. If you notice the teeth moving then wear it for another month full time before trying to wear it only at night. This will keep your teeth as straight as possible for life as long as it is worn every night. Please keep wearing it. 9: If you have any questions or if a problem arises please call the office for advice. |
